SPARK Core Training: The Foundation for Consistent, Trauma-Informed Care

Trying to find a trauma-informed practice for beginners course that actually feels relevant is a headache, isn't it?

You're a Support Worker or a Manager. You're tired of "tick-box" training. You need practical, on-the-floor skills that help you with the real-world stress of a shift, build your confidence and give you a clear, consistent plan.

This is that course.

The SPARK Core Training is our 3-4 hour "foundations" workshop. It's the starting point for building reflective, confident support workers. It's designed and delivered personally by our founder, Ash, who has both 5 years of frontline management and lived experience in the care system.

This isn't just theory. This is the "how-to" guide for improving your team's understanding of behaviour.

What Is SPARK Core Training?

  • This is our "Level 1" workshop. It's a 3-4 hour, live online session for up to 12 staff.
  • This workshop teaches you the 6 practical, everyday steps of our core SPARK Care™ Framework (S² to K).
  • You won't just learn why you should be trauma-informed; you'll learn how to do it, step-by-step, in a way that's consistent, repeatable and easy to remember in a high-stress moment. This is the foundation course for care consistency.

This Is "Neuro-Smart," Not Just "Trauma-Informed"

This is our key difference. Most "beginner" courses miss the biggest piece of the puzzle: neurodiversity.

SPARK Core is an ND-Smart framework. It was built by our founder, Ash, who has ADHD and lived experience in care. It's designed to work for children with ADHD, Autism, PDA and FASD.

You'll learn:

  • Why traditional "talk-down" methods can fail.
  • How to use P: Predict & Preload to lower anxiety.
  • Why A: Adjust & Choice is the key to de-escalating power struggles.
  • How to see behaviour as communication, not defiance.

Learning Outcomes: Practical Skills, Not Just Theory

This is a "doing" course. When you complete the SPARK Core workshop, you and your team will be able to:

  • Understand behaviour through a "Neuro-Smart," trauma-informed lens.
  • Confidently use the 6 practical SPARK steps (from S²: Scan to K: Repair).
  • Use the SPARK Pocket Cards and other tools to create calm, predictable environments.
  • Build reflective confidence in your daily support work.

This Is Not "Accredited", It's Specialist

Let's be blunt. This is not a generic, "CPD-certified" course where you just click "next" and get a badge.

This is a specialist, founder-led training in a unique, high-value framework. When you complete the session, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from AshDHD Learning.

This certificate proves something more valuable than a generic CPD point: it proves you have been trained by the framework's creator in a specific, "Neuro-Smart" model that builds real-world, reflective confidence.

Q: What does ND-Smart mean?
A: It's our unique approach. It means our trauma-informed model is also integrated with a deep understanding of neurodiversity (ADHD, Autism, etc.). We focus on practical tools like sensory regulation and reducing verbal demands, not just "talk" therapy.

A: This is a specialist, founder-led framework, not a generic CPD course. You will receive a Certificate of Completion from AshDHD Learning, proving you have been trained by the framework's creator in this specific, Neuro-Smart methodology.

Q: What's the difference between SPARK Core and SWIFT+R?
A: SPARK Core is your everyday framework. It's the 6 steps (S² to K) you use for 99% of your interactions to prevent crises. SWIFT+R is the additional framework you use during a "red zone" crisis for safe de-escalation.

Barriers to ND Adaptation in Care Staff: Why It Happens and How to Fix It
You can have the best care plans in the file, but they are useless if your floor staff refuse to execute them. Managing a team that clings to "old school" punitive methods while you try to implement trauma-informed care is exhausting. It creates a toxic cycle: the child escalates, staff respond with rigidity, the placement breaks down, and you are left explaining the failure to OFSTED and the LANT

Predictable Routines to Reduce ND Meltdowns in Residential Care
Managing a home where escalations are the norm is unsustainable for your staff and traumatic for the children. You deal with sudden aggression, property damage, and the constant, exhausting anticipation of the next crisis. This isn't just "challenging behavior" - it's a physiological response to a world that feels chaotic and unsafe. You need more than patience; you need a structural framework that stabilizes the environment before a meltdown even begins.
